Google changes its search algorithm around 500–600 times in every year, called Google updates. While most of these changes are minor, Google occasionally rolls out a "major" algorithmic update (such as Google Panda and Google Penguin) that affects search results in significant ways.

For search marketers, knowing  these Google updates can help explain changes in rankings and organic website traffic and ultimately improve search engine optimization. Below, we’ve listed the major algorithmic changes that have had the biggest impact on search.  

1. Google Panda update(Google Farmer updates)

Google’s Panda Update is a search filter  meant to stop sites with poor quality content from working their way into Google’s top search results. 

Panda is updated from time-to-time. When this happens, sites previously hit may escape, if they’ve made the right changes. Panda may also catch sites that escaped before. A refresh also means “false positives” might get released.

Content spamming like keyword stuffing, content plagiarism (use duplicate content), use of low-quality contents, content spinning (rewrite your article in different ways), use of tiny content. 

In mid-July, Google released  Panda 4.2, the latest Panda Algorithm updates.

2. Google Penguin updates

Google published the Penguin update in April 2012 to improve the quality of sites, those doing so by buying links or obtaining them through link networks designed primarily to boost Google rankings. 

When a new Penguin Update is released, sites that have taken action to remove bad links or to remove spam may regain rankings. New sites not previously caught might get trapped by Penguin. 

Link spamming like link exchange, link selling, link farming, comment spamming, wiki spamming are surely catch by penguin. 

3. EMD (Exact Match Domain) updates

EMD stands for Exact Match Domain. The spamming like create websites as exact matching websites before created will catch by this update.

When a fresh EMD Update happens, sites that have improved their content may regain good rankings. New sites with poor content  or those previously missed by EMD  may get caught. In addition, “false positives” may get released.

4. Hummingbird updates

Hummingbird makes Google almost human with the way it responds to queries. Instead of looking at keywords, Hummingbird makes Google look deeper and focus on the whole statement or question.  

Rankbrain update is an advanced version of Hummingbird update.

5. Pigeon update

ON page SEO to all the things that you can do ON your website to help you rank higher such as page titles, meta description, keyword density, anchor text optimization, image optimization etc. 

OFF page SEO refers to all the things that can do directly OFF your website to help you rank higher, such as submission of articles, social networking etc

Now we will be looking specifically at ON page SEO and effective ways to increase your page ranking on search results.

Tips to ON page optimization


1. Page title

Your page titles are one of the most important SEO factors on your site. Each of your pages & posts should have its own unique title, which includes the main keywords for that page. Title must be meaningful, attractive and spelling mistake free.

In a title there is 55-60 characters can use safely. The maximum pixel width we can used is 512. The title do not write in full caps.

For example, If you write a post on "Biriyani recipe". Then you should write the title as " easiest recipe for Biriyani". In my post the title is "Greatest tips for Google ON page optimization".

2.Meta description

Many people forget to include meta descriptions for their pages. These descriptions are an important place to include relevant keywords for your content, as these are used within the search results when your page is listed. It must be unique.

It is a snippet,  means that a small piece or brief extract. Inside a page the maximum characters that we can use is 155-160 characters. In a post it limited between 154-155 characters.

3.URL structure

When we use search engine friendly URLs, it helps to crawling. Shorter URLs seem to perform better in search engine results, however that is not the only factor. The URL of this post is http://sonreesaseo.blogspot.com/2016/08/magic-of-seo.html.

4.Body tags(H1, H2,H3,H4 ETC.)

The main title must be H1(Heading) and it must unique.  This is why keyword rich headlines are more useful than generic ones.

 Make sure you write keyword rich headings in the order of priority in H1, H2 and H3 title tags. They are used by many crawlers to differentiate important content.

5.Content optimization

Content is the king in an article. Use maximum content attractively. The keyword density or number of focusing keyword must be minimum. Provide focusing keyword before . or ,.

Content optimization contains anchor text optimization. The link added text is called anchor text. Anchor text helps  crawling and it acts as a fuel to crawling. Anchor text is a reference to a user but it is a recommendation to Google bots.

6.Image optimization

In an image optimization, there are three factors

There are many SEO services available. SEO helps to provide improvements in organic search engine ranking of a website.

 

About the Google:-

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Ph.D students invented Google as part of their project at Stanford University in 1996. But up to 2010, it got no fame. So Google engineers published their secret tips to the webmasters to practice. This was the very influential decision in the Google lifetime. So this is the reason for the development of search engine optimization.

If you are a business owner, you want your own website to come up when people are searching for your product or service to increase business. Then how do you make sure your website became in top position in search results? At the beginning of Google, it was niche specific. It means content specific method. After the introduction of page Ranking method. It concentrates on the number of keywords. As page increased the page rank become improved. This leads to content spamming like keyword stuffing. So to control content spamming Google change their algorithm to link specific.

According to get links from different websites page rank improved.  If you get links from well-known websites, it became top listed. There was also malpractice developed like link exchange, link farming,link selling etc. So Google again changes its algorithm to quality link specific. It means that rank will improve only when the link gets from the quality websites or from the website high page rank. There is also malpractice arise. The high-quality websites come forward for selling links.

Again Google updated the algorithm called passing the juice in SEO. The idea is that when link pass from well-known websites to externally will pass more Powers or equity to externally. It uses one of the factors in ranking that website. At that time there is a problem arise If we give a link from our website to get more information about our article then leak out power to externally. To avoid this problem Google introduced “rel=nofollow”when this add to our algorithm there no chance to equity flow.

Google firstly introduced ad program is “ad-words”. It is a prepaid program. If you are a businessman, you spend money to Google to publish your advertisement on Google websites. After this Google introduce another program “ad-sense”. If our website is well known you have to register in this program to show advertisement on your own website. When you get any click from reader Google cut a particular amount from that advertisement owner,  then you get a commission from that.
